Heirloom Literary and Media was founded in 2024

The goal is to nurture creatives and their work by fostering an atmosphere where both can thrive, while exploring every avenue for commercial success across all forms and formats.

Why "Heirloom" and why the tomato? As Elena and Jason brainstormed what to call this new venture, they kept coming back to this word and the idea of an object that holds value across generations. And heirlooms are deeply important to both of them, their homes filled with mementos of family members past. And what's more gorgeous than an Heirloom tomato, unique each and every one and prized for their stubborn resistance to standardization.

  • Elena Giovinazzo

With over 20 years of industry experience spanning sales, subrights, marketing, and, of course, agenting, Elena Giovinazzo founded Heirloom Literary & Media in hopes of taking everything she'd done and learned to date and bringing the pieces together to grow something new and exciting. An avid reader from as early as she can remember, who had dreamed of becoming a teacher who could share her love of books and reading with students, she still pinches herself that she has a hand in helping create stories that will be as meaningful to others and they always have been to her.

  • Jason Reynolds

Jason Reynolds is a #1 New York Times bestselling author of many award-winning books, including Look Both Ways, All American Boys, Long Way Down, the Track series, and Ain’t Burned All the Bright, as well as a recipient of the MacArthur Genius Grant, Newbery Honor, Printz Honor, an NAACP Image Award, a Coretta Scott King award and multiple honors, and many others. Jason was also the 2020-2022 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature and has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Late Night with Seth Meyers, CBS Sunday Morning, Good Morning America, and various media outlets. As co-founder of Heirloom, Jason acts in a leadership, mentorship, and creative role.

  • Julia Ermi

Julia Ermi probably should have known she would end up in the book world when her fourth-grade teacher had to confiscate the Percy Jackson she was reading under her desk. Instead, it took her over a decade and a degree in journalism from Boston University to reach that predestined conclusion. After interning at children's literary review magazine The Horn Book and two years spent working with Elena at their previous literary agency, Pippin Properties, Julia now acts as the agency manager for Heirloom’s powerhouse clients, coordinating foreign rights and permissions, creating social media content, reading submissions, and generally facilitating the agency’s smooth operation.
